    What Is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness simply means paying attention to what is happening right now — in your body, your mind and around you — with curiosity rather than judgement. It isn't about emptying your mind or feeling calm on demand.

    What it can help with

Regular, gentle practice can help you notice stress building earlier, step back from spiralling thoughts and spend a little more time in the present rather than the past or future.

    A trauma-sensitive approach

For some people, turning attention inwards can bring up difficult feelings. That's not failure — it's information. You are always allowed to keep your eyes open, focus on something outside you, move, or stop.

    • Keep practices short — one minute counts.
    • Anchor to the outside world (sounds, colours, your feet on the floor) if inward focus feels too much.
    • Choose what you notice; you stay in charge.
