    Post-Traumatic Growth

Post-traumatic growth, a term from psychologists Tedeschi and Calhoun, describes positive change that can come from struggling with very hard experiences. It doesn't mean the trauma was good or that you should be grateful for it.

    Five areas people describe

    • Deeper, more meaningful relationships.
    • Seeing new possibilities or directions in life.
    • A sense of personal strength — "I got through that".
    • Greater appreciation for everyday life.
    • Changes in beliefs, values or spirituality.

    Growth and pain together

Growth usually happens alongside ongoing difficulty, not after it ends. There's no deadline and no pressure — healing and simply surviving are enough.
